Are you using a friends’ or a public computer to access Facebook, and you do not feel safe about entering your password on a foreign machine?
There is a security feature on the social network site that allows you to set a temporary password for your Facebook account via a text message. The password automatically expires in 20 minutes.
This new security feature is to help users stay in control of their accounts.
Here is what you need to do to set up a temporary password for your Facebook account:
Using the phone number you have registered with your Facebook account at Account->Account Settings->Mobile. Send a text message with the words “otp” to the short code “326-65“.
“otp” means One-Time Password.
You will receive a message back with your temporary password for your Facebook account.
Instead of using your regular password, use the temporary password to log into your Facebook account. Your eight-character passcode will only work the next 20 minutes and cannot be reused.
