Did you get caught in the rain, or went to the beach and forgot you had your phone in your pocket or you accidentally dropped your mobile phone in water?
Unfortunately in Ghana, warranties on a mobile phone does not exist since most of us buy our phones either slightly used at the local market or with help from friends and families order it from abroad. There are two things at play here; used phones maybe out of warranty and/or the cost involved in sending your devices overseas to leverage your warranty benefit is just not valuable.
Do not panic, the answer to your dropped phone in water can be found in your kitchen. Here is what you do:
Step 1: Completely turn off your phone (if it’s not already off).
Step 2: Completely burry your device in a bowl of uncooked rice. If your device has a removal battery, remove the battery, and burry it in the rice along with rest of it.
Why Rice: Rice is a natural desiccant; which means it absorbs water. So burying your device in rice will help absorb the excess moisture.
Step 3: Leave your phone out to drive for 24 hours. (DO NOT try to charge the device at this step).
Step 4: You are done, power up your device and you should be up and running again.
This is the cheapest and the easiest DYI way to fix your wet mobile phone. If not, i’m sure you can find the guy around the corner that fix all things mobile phone.
Have you tried this method, and did it work for you?
